Demo
Released!!
Epitome Of Dog's first recording effort has been released. It's been a long
time coming (almost 6 years!), but it's finally done. "Haad" features 5 tracks
- just enough of a taste to get new listeners hooked. It's available for free
at any of our shows - just ask. We'll be whoring it out to some radio station,
so we'll let you know who to call to request some radio play.
Thanks to Toad Hall
Studios and Tremolo
Lounge for all of their help.

EPITOME OF DOG - “HAAD”
(Produced, Engineered, and Mixed by Steve Blake At Toad Hall Studios, East Douglas, MA; Mastered by Roger Lavallee at Tremolo Lounge, West Boylston, MA)
This local power trio has been around a few years playing the hardcore influenced thrash metal that they first discovered a decade before in a band called Sick Dog. In Epitome, guitarist Chicken takes over vocal duties and sounds a little less heavy metal powerful, but a little more hardcore punk chaotic. “Lost in Society” starts of with a whirling basic sounding guitar solo and speedy snare heavy drums following close behind. It’s fun, mosh worthy, and short, the way thrash should be. “Cauldron of Fear” slows things down, opening with a moody bass solo, before breaking into a melodic fist pumping head banging rocker about “a circus where all the animals die [SIC],” now happening in a foreign country near you.
The band slows down to dirge metal speed while Chicken [Jeff] starts “Involution” with a big Cookie Monster like burp before going into the political rant of the album. “Plot” [SIC] kicks it back up to speed thrash, while Chicken continues to rant and, but at least sounds happier, musically sounding more like Agnostic Front or the Cro-Mags than Slayer. Long after the CD is over, this is the song that I’m likely to remember. I guess that’s my one knock on the rest of the disc. After it’s over I don’t remember much of it.

Wormtown.org Interview With Brian Goslow
(10/14/05)

MEET EPITOME OF DOG: AT THE LUCKY DOG THIS FRIDAY NIGHT
This Friday, October 14, EPITOME OF DOG return to the Lucky Dog for a night of
wild rocking along with Superpower, Whiskey Chapel, Samara, and Hold Your Own.
Wormtown.org caught up with Eric Zeh for an update on what the Dog (the group)
has been up to and why they're back on the club circuit.
Wormtown.org: Epitome of Dog pretty much dropped out of action
a few years ago. Why the return to action now?
Eric Zeh: When we broke up back in 2002, I think we were just
all a little burnt out. I don't think we were having as much fun with it as we
once had. Fast forward to 2005. Jeff and Chicken had been jamming a little bit
and looking around for a drummer. I'd just recently parted ways with Standard
Deviation. We figured why not get together and see what happened. It felt good
and we just fell back into EOD.
Wormtown.org: For the uninitiated, describe your sound and
who's in the band?
Eric Zeh: The band is "Chicken" on guitar and vocals, Jeff
Abramo on bass and backup vocals and me (Eric Zeh) on drums and the occasional
scream. I'd say our sound is kind of a blend of "old school" hardcore, speed
metal and a little punk for flavor. Chicken once described it as "Harmonically
excited dive-bomb metal crunch!!!." I'm not sure that helps, but it sounds
good.
Wormtown.org: Who's your major influences?
Eric Zeh: It seems like every time we play someone mentions
D.R.I. And they're certainly a band we all grew up on. We're all huge fans of
Slayer as well, but I'm not sure how much that comes through in our sound. I
think one of the best things about this band is our influences vary so widely.
From Anal *censored* [Cunt] to Jane's Addiction. But as you know, just
because we're influenced by a band doesn't mean we sound anything like them.
Wormtown.org: Tell me about some of the bands you're playing
with at the Lucky Dog this Friday night?
Eric Zeh: It's a great bill top to bottom: Hold Your Own,
Sumara, Whiskey Chapel, Superpower. We're really excited to be playing with
Superpower. For those that don't know, it's Dave Rivers's (formerly of Tree)
latest band. We were all big fans of Tree.
Wormtown.org: Where can people go to sample your music?
Eric Zeh: You can visit us on MySpace at
http://myspace.com/eod and at http://epitomeofdog.com/.
Our website is kind of a wasteland right now which is funny because two of the
three of us are web developers. Go figure.
You can see Epitome of Dog with Superpower, Whiskey Chapel, Samara, and Hold
Your Own this Friday night, October 14 at the Lucky Dog Music Hall, 89 Green
Street, Worcester. If you need directions, call (508) 363-1888. And tell 'em
you heard about the show on Wormtown.org!
